Pinot Noir, Carneros

2015

WINEMAKER NOTES
Situated south of Napa and Sonoma, and just north of the San Pablo Bay, the Carneros
appellation is directly influenced by the fog and cool breezes that come off of the Bay. This
cooling effect results in Carneros being much cooler than its northern neighbors, Napa and
Sonoma, and an ideal location for cooler climate varietals like Pinot Noir. Our Pinot Noir is
comprised of Clones 115, 667 and Pommard; this variety allows us to capture the more
elegant side of a traditionally "finnicky" varietal. The wine is partially aged in once-filled
barrels to impart oak and spice that respects the fruit.
TASTING & PAIRING
The Valley of the Moon Pinot Noir fills the glass with aromas of cherries, currants and a
whisper of cedar. Upon lifting the glass to your mouth, fresh cherries and cinnamon hit the
tongue with a touch of toasty oak. The soft structure pays tribute to the elegance of Pinot
Noir and the cherry preserves that linger on the finish long after the sip is gone reminds you
of why Pinot Noir is so suitable all year long. It can be paired with a mushroom risotto, grilled
lobster or a simple fruit salad.
